Pubgolf Preston turns a wander between Fishergate, Friargate and Winckley Square into a proper contest. Every pub on the route is a hole with one set drink and a par to chase. Your strokes are the sips it takes to finish that drink, so fewer sips than par puts you under par.
Nobody has to empty a glass, because the target is a clever score, not raw speed. Clear a challenge or answer a knowledge question to earn a power up, while a dare like a no blink test can cost you a penalty stroke. The lowest total across all holes wins, played just as happily over an afternoon as an evening around Church Street.
